SuSE

SuSE is one of the major commercial distributions (the other being RedHat). Based in Germany, and recently bought by Novell, it produces a few nice products - for instance

- SLOX (SuSE Linux Open Exchange)

- intended to be an Exchange replacement (Exchange 5.5 at least)

- SLES (SuSE Linux Enterprise Server)

- Aimed at enterprise usage (support, stable platform, certified by e.g. Oracle etc).

- SuSE Desktop

- Aimed at consumers. Supposed to be easy to configure/setup etc

- SuSE Standard Server

- Aimed for small/medium office usage (E.g. Samba serving etc).

- SuSE Firewall on CD

- Replace that pesky Cisco router (that dies if you ping it! >:-> )

SuSE Linux is .rpm based, and claims to be one of the oldest commercial Linux distributions (are there all that many anyway?)

- OpenSuse is now available also which is open for development.
